| Crammed with vehicles, stalls, re-enactors this years show was another roaring success for the Area. The venue was once again the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington near York. This former WW2 bomber airfield is home to an impressive array of aircraft which for our weekend are a real bonus backdrop.
The show is the premier event in the North and attracted over 200 vehicles of all types and ages. Being within relatively easy reach of adjacent areas does also offer an opportunity to see some of our neighbours’ mvs. Re enactor displays were again to a high standard and particularly enjoyed by the public. The stalls, both outside and in the main hanger, provided lots of opportunities to add to collections. Wargaming and model making/sales of kits also featured in the hanger.

| Generally the weather was kind to us, particularly so for the Saturday afternoon run out to another former WW2 airfield at Melbourne. Some 46 vehicles and outriders snaked their way through Elvington village and out into lovely open countryside.
For me these runs are what it’s all about, great fun. The control tower there is being restored and was opened for us to view. A whizz up and down part of one of the runways started the return trip.

| A hurricane from the BBMF was the treat for Saturday, but we also delighted to see a Chinook do a fairly low level flypast and a Provost trainer also appeared and landed.

| Hawaiian shirts, the louder the better, were the theme for the Saturday night disco in the NAAFI building. A very busy bar kept all well supplied with drinks and the excellent disco music created some spirited dancing largely by our female friends.
